At the Institute of Applied Statistics (IAS), we are committed to nurturing the next generation of researchers and academicians. Our Short-Term Training Programmes (STTPs) are specially designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse disciplines such as Medical Sciences, AYUSH, Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, and Statistics.
List of Programmes:
1. Research Foundations: Basics of Health Research & Study Designs
An introductory programme on research methodology and ethical considerations in health research.
Objective:
▸ To introduce fundamentals of research questions and hypothesis building.
▸ To explain observational and experimental study designs.
Duration: 2 weeks
Eligibility: UG/PG students from medical, AYUSH, and allied sciences
Outcome: Students will be able to design a basic research protocol.
2. Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis Bootcamp
Training in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis methods.
Objective:
▸ To introduce PRISMA guidelines and search strategies.
▸ To conduct meta-analysis using RevMan/R.
Duration: 2 weeks
Eligibility: PG students and researchers preparing dissertations.
Outcome: Skills to perform systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
3. AI & Data Science for Health Researchers
A modern training module on AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics in healthcare.
Objective:
▸ To understand AI/ML applications in clinical research.
▸ To use open-source AI tools for health data analysis.
Duration: 4 weeks
Eligibility: UG/PG students from medical, statistics, or computer science backgrounds
Outcome: Ability to apply basic AI/ML methods to health datasets.
4. Public Health Analytics: Epidemiology & Statistical Modelling
Training in epidemiological methods and applied statistics for public health research.
Objective:
▸ To conduct outbreak investigation and data modelling.
▸ To interpret relative risk, odds ratio, and hazard ratios.
Duration: 3 weeks
Eligibility: UG/PG students in public health, epidemiology, or biostatistics
Outcome: Ability to analyze and interpret epidemiological datasets.
5. Scientific Writing & Publication Skills
Training in effective academic writing and publishing practices.
Objective:
▸ To draft original articles, reviews, and case reports.
▸ To understand plagiarism, ethics, and journal selection.
Duration: 2 weeks
Eligibility: UG/PG students preparing theses and dissertations
Outcome: Enhanced writing skills for high-quality publications.
